Q&A with Leadership: Digitizing the Data, Humanizing the Experience
Jamie Mottern, Head of Docutech Operations
Sandeep Gupta, Head of Product for Docutech, Servicing, and CleanFile
We were lucky to be able to demonstrate how Solex® has been transformed to provide proprietary in-person electronic notarization (IPEN) while still allowing your borrowers to enjoy a high-touch, humanized experience, at DIGITAL MORTGAGE 2024. The following is a recap of our demonstration.
A: In short, the digitization of data and documents. Solex IPEN enables lenders to support the celebratory home-buying experience while digitizing and automating the closing data and documents. Lenders gain instant access to signed documents through the Solex eVault, enabling faster funding of the loan in a matter of hours rather than days. This efficiency, combined with a positive user experience for borrowers, agents, and notaries, makes Solex IPEN a powerful tool for lenders.
Q: You mentioned the positive experience for other users. Can you walk us through how borrowers interact with Solex IPEN?
A: Solex IPEN makes the borrower’s experience familiar and comfortable by mirroring the process they’ve followed when signing disclosures throughout their homebuying journey. This consistency helps build confidence, even for borrowers who might not be as comfortable with technology. Later, borrowers complete their part of the closing process at the closing table, accessing documents via a personalized QR code provided by their settlement agent. Thanks to the adoption of QR codes across various industries – from restaurants to grocery stores – borrowers are very comfortable with this entry point into the digital signing experience.
Q: How does a settlement agent interact with Solex IPEN?
A: The settlement agent’s experience begins with a white-labeled notification, branded to look and feel like the lender’s website, ensuring a familiar process. When entering the Solex Connect platform, settlement agents have the option to create an account – giving them visibility into all their closings across Docutech clients – or proceed as a guest. This flexibility allows agents to choose the options that best suits them.
Once in the platform, the settlement agent lands on a status page specific to the closing. The page clearly outlines the steps needed to complete the digital closing, dividing tasks into pre-closing and closing-day activities. This structured approach, combined with human touchpoints, ensures clarity throughout the process.
Q: What kind of experience does Solex IPEN provide for notaries?
A: This is very similar to the settlement agent workflow and experience. Both parties also have access to a quick-start tutorial, providing the necessary knowledge and confidence to complete the tasks seamlessly and accurately, providing a positive experience for all parties involved.
